The four major airlines' domestic passenger volume decreased in April, and the passenger load factor exceeded 60%

With the release of the operational data of several major listed airlines in April, the recovery situation of the aviation industry is at a glance. Due to the "five one" policy of international routes, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions and other international entry restrictions, the number of regional and international passengers of various airlines decreased significantly in April. However, the decline in domestic passenger traffic has gradually narrowed.

Passenger load factor increased, Spring Airlines and Juneyao Airlines are above 70%

From the perspective of passenger load factor and passenger turnover, in April this year, the recovery of domestic market has led to a gradual recovery of passenger turnover.

Among them, among the three major airlines, the domestic passenger turnover of Eastern Airlines and China Southern Airlines both decreased by more than 70% year-on-year, but increased sequentially. Among them, the number of passengers carried by Eastern Airlines increased by 21.72% month-on-month. Eastern Airlines passenger turnover was 3.726 billion, down 79.07% year-on-year; Southern Airlines passenger turnover was 6.033 billion, down 73.18% year-on-year; Air China passenger turnover was 4.008 billion, down 79.2% year-on-year.

In April of this year, Hainan Airlines passenger turnover decreased by 82.46% year-on-year to 2.134 billion, an increase of 13.27%; Spring and Autumn Airlines passenger turnover decreased 53.39% to 1.474 billion, an increase of 9.77%; Juneyao Airlines passenger turnover decreased by 68.30 year-on-year % To 912 million.

In terms of passenger load factor, the passenger load factor of various airlines increased in April. In March, only Spring Airlines and Juneyao Airlines had a passenger load factor of over 60%, while the above two airlines had the highest passenger load factor in April. In April of this year, the occupancy rate of major airlines was above 60%, and the occupancy rate of Spring Airlines and Juneyao Airlines exceeded 70%.

In terms of the three major airlines, the average passenger load factor of China Eastern Airlines was 64.21%, a year-on-year decrease of 19.39%, and an increase of 15.11% month-on-month; the passenger load factor of China Southern Airlines was 63.35%, a decrease of 19.64% year-on-year, and an increase of 5.19% month-on-month; The year-on-year decrease was 15.6%, and the month-on-month increase was 8.6%.

Hainan Airlines' passenger load factor fell 19.44% year-on-year to 67.67%, up 7.26% month-on-month; Spring Airlines' passenger load factor fell 20.70% year-on-year to 70.68%, up 9.76% month-on-month; Juneyao Airlines' passenger load factor fell 15.09% year-on-year to 70.04%.

How about "customers changing goods"?

Under the influence of the epidemic, the airline company sought to "transform passenger transportation to cargo transportation" to achieve "carrying" in both the passenger cabin and the cargo cabin for self-rescue. The Civil Aviation Administration also recently issued the "Notice on Further Optimizing the Airline Cargo Flight Management Policy", which aims to improve China's air cargo capacity, enhance China's logistics industry's international competitiveness, reduce approval links, improve approval efficiency, and help airlines become more flexible, Efficiently arrange freight flight plans.

According to the official website of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, in a short period of time, China's international air cargo capacity and supply level have been greatly improved. Cargo scheduled flights have increased substantially. In April, Chinese and foreign airlines performed an average of 1,574 scheduled freight flights per week, an increase of 55.2% over the pre-epidemic period. Temporary cargo flights increased exponentially, with 2,225 overtime charter flights approved in April, a year-on-year increase of 476.4%. In addition, there are additional 988 and 3619 charter flights for "customer to cargo".

Data show that in April this year, China Southern and China Eastern's cargo and mail load factor increased. Among them, China Eastern Airlines 'cargo and mail load factor increased by 2.17% to 33.16% year-on-year, compared with 30.99% in the same period last year; China Southern Airlines' cargo and mail load factor increased by 8.86% to 59.17% year-on-year.

Spring Airlines' cargo and mail load factor increased by 69.02% year-on-year to 114.82%, a slight decrease from the previous month, but since the epidemic, the airline's cargo and mail load factor has been on a rising trend. In the first four months of this year, Spring Airlines' cargo and mail load factor increased by 41.95% year-on-year to 86.67%.

The cargo and mail load factor of Hainan Airlines increased by 6.19% year-on-year to 36.93%, an increase of 4.09% month-on-month; Juneyao Airlines' cargo and mail load factor increased by 21.80% to 42.03%.

Ren Hong, a first-level inspector of the Infrastructure Development Department of the National Development and Reform Commission, said bluntly that after nearly a decade of construction, China's airports have experienced very large developments. By the end of 2019, there were 235 transport airports in China. The passenger throughput completed in 2019 was 1.35 billion passengers, an increase of 6.9% year-on-year, and the throughput of the same futures post reached 17.1 million tons, and the growth of cargo and mail throughput was only 2.1% year-on-year. The growth rate of China ’s freight transport is much faster than that of passenger transport A lot lower, which means that China's air cargo is in the early stages of development.

Airport benefits from "passenger to cargo"

In synchronization with the airline company, the airport also announced its April 2020 operating data, and the cargo and mail throughput of some airports increased significantly.

Among them, the number of flights at Shanghai Airport this year decreased by 59.2% year-on-year, passenger throughput decreased by 87.2% year-on-year, and cargo and mail throughput increased by 10.1% year-on-year.

During the same period, the number of flights at Shenzhen Airport was 18,200, a decrease of 37.54% year-on-year; cargo and mail throughput was 106,300 tons, an increase of 4% year-on-year; passenger throughput was 1.826 million passengers, a decrease of 56.15% year-on-year.

In April this year, the number of aircraft takeoffs and landings at Baiyun Airport decreased by 53.55% to 18,100, passenger throughput decreased by 71.70% to 1,645,400, and cargo and mail throughput decreased by 21.87% to 124,000 tons.
